Selection committee screws GU over again
Way back in time... A Dan Dickau led GU team was #6 in the nation, and the selection committee gave them a 6 seed! no typo. #6 in the nation got a 6 seed. GU ended up losing to Wyoming, but it still has to be one of the most absurd seedings by the selection committee of all time.
GU will need to get back to its underdog role if the want to upset Cuse in Buffalo. Losing Manny Arop will hurt them but I still think they have a decent shot if they can get past the Seminoles.

Honestly, I’m tired of this. We’re an 8 because honestly, we just haven’t proven that we’re very good. Again, we lost to a number 5, got blown out by the only #1 we played, and we just got blown out by a #10 in the WCC final. Oh, we also lost to a #9 when we played wake. We also lost a practice game to Texas, who is #8.
The only teams we’ve beaten that are actually in the tourney are a #4 and a #10 (who we beat twice).
Time to move on everyone. Lets just worry about FSU.
Inconsistency
Is what got us the #8 seed. Plain and simple.

Yeah i'm kinda over this too
Losing to LMU and USF should almost warrant you an automatic 8 or worse seed. Just can’t do it if you are in the WCC. Can’t do it, can’t do it, can’t do it.
The Slipper Still Fits - SB Nation's home for the Gonzaga Bulldogs!
Lose 3 outta our last 10...
especially against WCC competition is what sunk us. I was hoping for a 7 but I cannot argue against an 8
Didn't deserve better.
I think if we end the season 28-4 and don’t lose to LMU and USF then we deserve a higher seed. You can forgive the SMC loss, but the others were disasters and really showed how inconsistent this team can be.
That being said I think there is something interesting going on here in terms of seeding in the NCAA tourny. Because of our situation it made me start thinking about being am 8/9 seed or even a 7/10 seed. Your second game is going to be so much tougher then that of the 11,12, and 13 seeds. Obviously it is a double edged sword because you get an easier first round game, but I think being an 11 or 12 really gives you a legit shot to win two games in the tourny and I would rather have two winnable games then one and then a game that is a long shot. But anyways those are just musings, not that I am saying we aren’t going to beat Syracuse (which we obviously will).
