JUICIEST MATCHUP: Gonzaga vs. Florida State

Boeheim wasn't pleased to have this as his 8-9 game; as he said on Sunday, "I have [Gonzaga] 15 in my poll this week. I don't see how they're not a 5 or 6 seed." He's right on the Zags being underseeded; they're more dangerous than your average No. 8, and are only in that position because they sleepwalked though a West Coast Conference title game loss to St. Mary's. The team they're paired with, Florida State, is no slouch, either: The 'Noles rank No. 1 in the nation in defensive efficiency, using 7-1 center Solomon Alabi to shut down all action in the paint. The game will hinge on whether Zags guards Matt Bouldin and Steven Gray (and to a lesser degree, small forward Elias Harris) can knock down threes.

In which our greatest strength becomes our biggest weakness...

“…to shut down all action in the paint.”

Someone with control of the playbook’s going to have to get creative in finding ways to attack that paint.

Run, run, run, and run. When you think you can’t possibly run any more, run some more.

Go Zags.

"I told you so."

look up comments on previous open thread and before even.
I knew Coach Boeheim would not be happy having to play Gonzaga.

We will dominate Florida St. Only stupid fouls and turnovers by the Bulldogs will result in us defeating ourselves.

When will the Selection committe stop punishing #1 seeds by putting them up against 4-5 seeded teams in the 8-9 spots.
Also is it just me being a conspiracy theorist for a moment or am I correct in noticing that once again the committe gave Coach K & the Dukies the patsy bracket. It always seems they have the easiest bracket, whether they are a one or two seed.

Top Three

will all score in double digits, Bouldin, Gray, and Harris who will also need to be double digits in rebounds as well, since we will be w/o Mangisto’s hustling on the boards,

Without the pressure defense by FSU, Bouldin and Gray should be able to handle the ball more and run the offense, thereby allowing Meech to concentrate on defense, driving to the basket- when the lane is open, I suspect they are big not quick from what I’ve been reading, also Meech & Olynyk should draw a couple charging calls each this game, since according to earlier thread FSU commits those quite a bit, and Demetri & Kelly draw alot. Thankfully Gonzaga will not have to worry about WCC refs attempting to make games close for the sake of preventing Gonzaga from dominating.

One player who has been hot lately, is Kong, so if he is hitting his threes-lights out!

Zags play hard for 40 minutes, 100%, don’t worry about their feelings just treat them with dignity & respect and give it your all. Victory by twenty for Gonzaga!

70

Is the magic number. Get to 70 points against FSU and I think we win no matter who scores for us.

Shoot, if we get to 70 against anyone we have a good chance of winning

All that means is that the Zags would be controlling the pace. If they do that in this tourney, they’ll go far.
