Another 2010 prospect is off the board....
I just read PG Jordin Mayes is going to Arizona and we already lost out on PGs Franklin and Dunsun. So where does Gonzaga look now? Do we give up on 2010? Maybe we could make another call to Germany and see if they have anymore players like Harris. The one good thing about the 2010-2011 season is that we will have some Dower Power. If any of you have any word on other recruits for 2010 please post.

Eh.. Then why is Coach Few going after PGs?
We dont need another PG for next year cuz we have the mighty Meech and GJ i cant get of the bench Vilarino. We also have Grant Gibbs but i really dont want to see Grant bringing the ball up court. Steven Gray is a SG and Arop and Kong are not going to play PG. A PG should score 10 pts a game with 6-9 assists and can shoot 75+ % from the FT line and we dont have that.
You've got totally unrealistic expectations for PGs.
There are only three (THREE!) PGs in the country who meet your stated qualifications: John Wall, Kemba Walker from UConn, and Oakland’s Johnathon Jones. That’s it. That’s the list.
And to answer “Why is Coach Few going after PGs,” it’s depth. If Few had to choose between bringing in a G and F/C with similar talent levels, I’m sure he’d take the big guy considering the roster’s current makeup.
Tweety Carter of Baylor
Meets those expectations how did you miss that one seth? Im sure you missed more.
Maybe asking for 6+ assists per game is asking too much.....
But we have had PGs in the past who could score and hit FTs while getting many assists. I dont think it is that hard to find a PG who can score and hit 75+ % at the FT line.
In case you missed it we cant make FTs.
Greivis Vasquez
Was being recruited to Gonzaga buy chose Maryland and he has 17+pts 6+ APG and shoots 80+ % from the FT line and if Larry Drew scored just a few more pts he would meet my expectations and he had Gonzaga listed so dont tell me there are only 3 PGs in the country that meet my expectations. I bet you never heard of Tweety Carter.
Vasquez
My understanding is we chose Bouldin over Vasquez, who then went to Maryland.
Yep
Tommy Lloyd discovered Greivis and placed him at a school in America. We continued recruiting him throughout that time but the staff went with Bouldin in the end.

Bouldin over Vasquez
Is great and im glad they did that Bouldin is a SG/ Combo and Vasquez is a PG. So get Vasquez and have both. And dont get Will Foster. Im pretty sure that most teams in the NCAA would take Vasquez over Will Foster.
Im just saying
I wish they did that 4 years ago becuse a trio of guards of Gray, Bouldin and Vasquez would be Final 4 bound.
Joey Rodriguez PG for VCU
Just to name one more for you Seth. I could go on but im getting tired of looking this stuff up, Maybe you got tired too and thats why you could only come up with 3.
Yeah, you're cutting into Zagazags time on the Fox Sports zag board, lol {jk}
Its gonna be gLoRiOUS!!~
Matt Santangelo, Blake Stepp and Dan Dickau,
All had a season where they Avg 10+ pts 75+ FG % and 6+ APG so i dont know why you think we cant get that kind of player again Seth. Even Pargo was close 1 year at 70% FT. I guess we have been spoiled in the past.
We don't need no stinking point guards.
We need that punch-em-in-the-face defense back that we had against Michigan St. Oh… and free throws. Does Harris have a brother?

Biggest Question mark for next year is...
…the PG position.
This assumes Harris is still at Gonzaga, otherwise I’d be a bit more concerned with the 4/5.
Meech brings a lot to the table, but his game has regressed since the beginning of the season; GJ doesn’t play. GG is more of a combo guard, SG more of a shooting guard. Althgouh GJ and Meech are true PGs, neither have shown more than glimpses of hope.
Few will have a very challenging year in terms of rotations for next year.

Tweety Carter PG at Baylor
Is a perfect example of what kind of PG we need. He is a senior at Baylor and has great stats 17.3 ppg 6.3 apg 83% at the FT line and 45% FG, 40% 3PT. I would love to find a JC player that could come in and do that.
tweety carter...
was also a mcdonald’s all-american and is a senior…be realistic…there isn’t a juco out there who could come in and come close to these kind of numbers. probably no freshmen either unless you’re talking about brandon knight or another 5 star level player.

Wallawallazag you are correct
I agree Gonzaga will never get another PG with stats like Dickau , Stepp and Santangelo because Gonzaga cant get Mc Donalds All Americans or 5 star players. Maybe in 2010 we can settle for a kids meal. And FYI maybe you read me wrong but i did want a recruit that could come in and someday have stats like Stepp, Dickau and Santangelo, idid not mean the first season.
And Tweety Carter
played as many minutes his freshman year as Meech is playing his sophomore year. Different player, different styles, different context for which they were brought in.
If Mark Few can find a juco that can put up All-Americanish numbers for next season, I will never question the man again.

Kyle D.
i would suggest that the staff would tell you they have already found the next dickau, stepp, or santangelo…and i would also suggest we already have the player you are thinking of in matt bouldin, who for all practical purposes is our pg.
Dude pay attention.....
Im talking about recruits for the future Matt Bouldin is fine. And even matt is only 1.5 APG from The type of PG i was talking about. 10+ PPG 75+ FT % and 6+ APG. But Matt is gone after this season. I promise you this, Meech will NEVER be above 70% FT and never above 3 APG and to top it off he has no outside game. So asking for a PG who can score and make FTs is not asking too much. But some of you make it sound like we cant get that kind of player when we have had them before.
