Few doesn't not have what it takes to take the program to the next level.  His loyalty to guys like Gray, Goodson, Stockton, etc. etc. prove it.  He's an offensive players coach.  You have to recruit players that understand they are going to have to play defense.  Few's style is pretty successfull for the WCC.  He may get a player that can take him further into March, Santangelo, Turiaf, Dickau, Morrison, Stepp, etc., but the next level involves competitive defensive toughness which is something Few doesn't teach.
