Did this loss cost us the 4th seed in Spokane?

I really hope we did not just lose out on the 4th seed in Spokane. We still have a chance to go 28-4 before March Madness begins. But we do need to do a better job at the FT line. I see Grant Gibbs was in the line up at crunch time. And i do think Robert Sacre will be a force in the next 2 years. And Meech did a better job getting points this game but im not sure how far this team can go in March if we cant shoot a higher FT % and if we dont play in Spokane.

4 seed

IF they were to win out I think a 4 seed is very realistic, however winning out may be a long shot especially if the FT shooting doesn’t improve.

I think the team could afford one loss in the WCC (including tourney) and still get in Spokane.

Now the margin for error is completely gone. Two WCC losses and there’s no chance.

Agreed

Just keeping winning and maybe a few blowouts for the love of god!

One-On-One won't get it done

Yes, I believe we can win. But we can make it much easier if we actually run some designed plays. Correct me if I’m wrong but did anyone see any designed plays in the SF game? Not even after a time out did I see anything resembling a play that could have helped us.

Making free throws is critical! Whats with the terrible free throw shooting?
Geez…thats the easiest shot to make in basket…totally uncontested.
How many times do they have to be told that “made” free throws win games!!!

It would help if Rob learns how to pass out of a double team and keep the ball high.
Someone should tell him to watch Tim Duncan for a game to see how a big man does it.

Mark few even said

“Missed Free Throws and Turnovers is what lost us the game”…well ABOUT Time he has realized that. I am a huge Mark Few fan but for the last few months I have just been wishing he would address this!!!! Our Free Throw shooting is absolutely ABYSMAL!!!!!!! And there really is NO excuse for that.

I too am a Mark Few fan.
Name another division 1 coach who has accomplished what he has these last 10 years. I doubt very much it has been by accident.
I am also sure he is very aware of this teams shortcomings.
I love that he realizes that this is a young team with mostly teenage kids and what impresses me more than anything is his patience with them.
Mark and his capable coaching staff wat to win too!
I do know that there are alot of teams out there that would be thrilled to have a coach of his qualifications.
He and his assistants will figure it out and we will all have plenty to cheer about.
All I know is someones gonna pay…WATCH OUT PORTLAND!!!

Oh I definitely think Few is amazing…look at what we do with our recruits. Other teams out there continuously get 4star and 5star recruits and yet we achieve what we achieve with having to develop guys and finding hidden talents. I now live in Louisville, Kentucky and all my friends are Louisville fans, and they think Pitino is the greatest coach to ever live….but they lost 2 players last year to the NBA, we lost one to the NBA, 3 to Overseas/European Leagues, and Ira Brown is in the NBA D-League and yet we are still kicking butt.

Mark Few is awesome in my book, I am just glad he is now voicing the problem with Free Throws.

I don't like Pitino

But maybe I’m biased cuz I moved here right before the whole Porcinni’s/Karen Sipher debacle…

I’m not saying Few is as great as Pitino, but I’m glad he isn’t. I don’t think Pitino would fit well with the GU program at all. Plus with Few we get loyalty…Pitino went from UK, to UL and that is one of the biggest rivalries ever….I dunno, I think there is something to be said for that.

It’s like Edgar Martinez and Seattle….he probably should have left to a better ball club to get the recognition he deserved, but he stayed with Seattle and I think loyalty is huge.

Few

wouldn’t bring a small Jesuit school the notoriety that Pitino brought Louisville this summer by screwing a waitress on a table in a public restaurant/bar. I don’t care how good of a coach Pitino is, he still doesn’t have the character to fit in at a program like Gonzaga that distinguishes itself not only by on-court performance, but by the level of integrity it maintains in doing so.

how do you solve a problem like demetri?

he can’t shoot, from the field or the line, and his assist/turnover ratio is .90! something like 37 assists and 41 turnovers. his defense is not enough to keep him in the game. he has become a complete negative when he’s out there. i wholeheartedly agree with few for having gibbs in the usf game down the stretch.

That's how it's solved.

You pick his spot, but don’t play him hardly at all until his game improves.
