Darrell Williams to Visit on September 10th
As we had anticipated, the Gonzaga coaching staff has some surprises in the cards for the class of 2010. The first "mystery man" that the staff will bring to Spokane is Darrell Williams. The 6'8 PF will play at Midland community college this year, which Gonzaga fans may be familiar with if they choose to remember the unfortunate Mamery Diallo era. In all honesty, there is not much info about Williams out there, although we do know that he currently holds offers from Gonzaga, Oklahoma St., St. John's, Depaul, and Western Kentucky. At this point, only Gonzaga and Oklahoma St. have secured visits, as Williams plans to visit Oklahoma St. the weekend of September 18th. If the Zags are serious about bringing Williams into the fold, then you have to love the fact that they were able to secure the first visit.
So what do we know about Darrell Williams? Last year he played at Chipola JC, which is one of the top JC programs in the country (recent graduates include Vernon Teel of LMU and Mario Little of Kansas). From what I can find, Williams didn't play a huge role. Chipola made a coaching change at the end of last season, and now Williams is enrolled at Midland. In high school, Williams played at Dunbar Vocational high school in Chicago. We are working to secure an interview with the head coach at Midland or at least a beat writer from the area so that we can provide a little more background on the type of player that Williams is.

Shocker!
This really surprises me! The little things crop up, like, where does he fit in? who’s in who’s out of the mix? Is Bol coming? How long do they expect to keep Elias? This would lead me to think of red shirting Sam, keeping Andy with his back to the basket and allowing KO to fill whatever his best niche is. A gap filler for sure! It might allow you for a miss on Kyle or another Big in 2011 depending on his overall talent. Finally, there’s the always present “atttrition” issue that usually happens every year. Not enough playing time, grades, injuries and home away from home issues. To most, this seems just like another part of the puzzle, to me, this is very surprising, it really raises the eyebrows. Looking forward to some data on him. THANKS
Oh no,
