Which 2009 recruit will have biggest impact?

I think this seems like a fair question and would like to hear what everyone thinks.

Star-divide

Since we have been talking about Mangisto and Kelly I started thinking which of the new recruits coming in will have the biggest impact on this upcoming season? Mangisto, Sam, Elias, Kelly, Bol or GJ?

The way I look at this is not really who will have the biggest impact but who has the opportunity to make the biggest impact.  I think Sam Dower has the best opportunity to really come in and make an immediate name for himself.  With the departure of Josh and Austin I think Sam can come in and contribute right away.  Having Rob 100% healthy this year will be a big plus and I could see us having something we haven't had in quite some time and thats a down low presence.  Sam and Rob are post guys who are going to bang to get boards and not drift to the 3 point line like Josh and Austin.  Granted they are completely different players but I would like to see us have some big guys down low who aren't afraid to pick up some fouls and get tough.  Bol was a close second for me as I can see him being a Micah type player who has a little bit of everything but I chose to go with Sam.

Bol Kong and Manny

I believe these two will come in and immediately help the Zags - I am truely glad to see that Zag nation is strong and we are talking about the options we have. I am beyond excited that I found this site— can you believe before this year I was waiting for info to come across gozags.com

I agree

This site makes my day as a Zag fan. Keep it up. I’ve read some on Elias and I think you should add him to the immediate help list. JMO

I'll take Elias Harris

He’s definitely the man of the 2009 recruiting class. He’s been putting up some sensational stats in Germany and is doing it against men. I think he will step right into the starting spot at power forward and never look back.

Here you go

I had to run the page through google’s translator since it was in German so it is a bit choppy but it’s understandable. Great stats for Elias

Bol

You added Bol Kong to the list. Do we know for sure that he is here?

I agree that the Zags have recruited a great team. Any word on Andy Poling? The last I read about him is that he had buffed himself up to about 245 lbs. 2009-2010 will be his freshman year, too.

If Bol is playing, then he will make the most impact.

Gibbs

Any idea where Grant Gibbs will fit into the mix? Seems like there will be a lot of battles for playing time by all of the new comers and the redshirts. My guess is Few will have a very interesting training camp on his hands.

Good question

Grant is one of the wildcards this year. Obviously, he will be coming off the bench behind Meech, Steven, and Matt but will probably be the first option off the bench at the shooting guard spot and will probably see some minutes at point guard from time to time. I believe that GJ Vilarino will not redshirt this year and will play backup PG behind Meech but Grant might get some time there as well. Priority 1 for Grant is to just stay healthy for a season. After his wrist injury in high school and his shoulder injury last year, he hasn’t played for a sustained period of time since his junior year of HS so this is a crucial year for him.
