Tracking the Zags: NBA Live Draft Thread

When North Carolina ended Gonzaga's season in March, it meant the end of six collegiate careers. Five seniors graduated and super sophomore Austin Daye chose to forego his remaining two years of collegiate eligibility for a shot at the NBA. Tonight we will find out whether Austin made the correct choice and we will also learn the fates of Josh Heytvelt, Jeremy Pargo, and Micah Downs. All four former Bulldogs have been traveling across the country trying to impress NBA brass. After weeks upon weeks of workouts and mock drafts, we still really have no clue what is going to happen at 4:30 PST (well except for the 1st overall pick).
Austin Daye is likely to be selected in the first twenty picks, probably going as high as 15 to the pistons. Josh Heytvelt is also a pretty solid lock to hear his name called in the draft. He finished his workouts impressively and should go in the early-to-mid second round. Micah Downs and Jeremy Pargo are both the wild cards of the draft. From all indications, Micah Downs really exceeded expectations in the workouts but their are plenty of players at his position that could go ahead of him. Jeremy Pargo showed a lot in workouts as well. Their is no doubt he can lead a team and that could land him a spot late in the second round. Smart money is that both will not be drafted but don't be surprised if they sneak in as both their skills translate well to the next level.

In my midseason predictions in January, i said Pargo was gettign drafted, Josh and Micah were going to Europe and Daye was coming back…jeeeeez was I wrong. However, I did predict a loss to a #1 seed in the Sweet Sixteen…

A friend of mine is an assitant for a school that was recruiting him after Arizona had dropped him. The reason they dropped him was relayed to the other schools recruiting him that someone had been caught red handed (I believe in the middle of the actual test) . So all the other schools said “see ya” because as soon as you sign him it would have been your program’s problem.

for Jennings…however, I think the only shocking pick was T-Wolves drafting two PG’s. Rubio will never be a good enough shooter to be a SG and Flynn is way too small for the 2. While each player could be a solid PG, What were they thinking drafting them back-to-back?
I guess they think Rubio can do it
But the TWolves are notorious for trading good players away on draft night so we will see.

Seriously...
While Jrue was one of the highest rated PG recruits in the Country, I was never impressed with him last season at UCLA. I’m not sure where the hype is coming from…Collison was always better, same with Westbrook.

Good for him, I’ve always been a fan of Hansbrough. I wish the best for him at the next level. I think he’ll be a good pro and defy all the critics, just like he did coming out of High School. The all-time leading scorer in the ACC…that’s good company.
If Daye doesn't go in the next two picks....

reminds my of a shorter Pargo. To be honest, I think if Pargo played on that particular Syracuse team, you would have seen similar results. I may be bias yet I think Pargo could be just as effective as Flynn in the League.
