i actuallly do think he is coming back now. i don’t know why. i was about to put up a youtube of the angels in the outfield kid saying “it could happen” but i didnt and when i woke up this morning, angels in the outfield was on tv. seems like a sign to me.

My only concern...
is the difference between Austin Daye and Vasquez, Harangody, James, etc is Daye is a considered a consensus Top-20 pick while the rest were late first to second round prospects at best. As we’ve discussed a million times over, a tough opportunity to pass up. All that said, I really, really hope he stays.

well said. the people that say they would rather see him go drive me crazy. we could be EXTREMELY dangerous next year with Daye back. i think recently i have seen quite a few mock drafts (FWIW) with daye out of hte top 20. who knows

I think USD might be overlooked as well. With a healthy Brandon Jennings and Rob Jones, they could be formidable as well. LMU is still a few years away, but they’ll be a force to reckon with sooner than later. LMU’s last two recruiting classes and high-major transfers have been impressive. I think Santa Clara will be a tough out, as always, yet not contend for the title. Its still GU’s crown to lose…

I guess it really is a two-team race, however, with all the Aussies continuatlly filling up SMC’s roster, I never know what to expect from them either. Portland and Gonzaga should be the class of the league in ‘09-’10

Toughts on the situation...
Now that the speculation is over, I feel somewhat ok with the matter….
My thoughts on the matter are that GU might have to work a little harder to beat the teams that Austin could just dominate (a la Santa Clara)….but now the keys to the sportscar can be handed to Bouldin and Gray. Should be a fun to watch, run and gun type team.
But back to Daye, he never played up to his potential. In the NCAA’s he didn’t play well at all (noticeably against Davidson his frosh year). It just sucks that another Zag will stuggle in the pro’s.
