-Micah Downs had another solid game today, making a couple athletic plays all over the floor, and playing aggressively on both ends. His ball handling ability still leaves a lot to be desired, but he stood out today with his physical tools and activity level, despite only tallying 8 points and 5 rebounds. Considering his size and athleticism for a wing, he may have the most potential of any player here in Portsmouth, which has helped him create a nice little buzz amongst teams we’ve talked to.

3 2nd Rounders

My first thought is that it would be awesome to have 3 Zags picked in the 2nd Round. The other thought is that although we had our team chalked full of draft picks, there is still a world of a difference between a first rounder(UNC) and a 2nd Rounder (Gonzaga)

I doubt Heytvelt drops out of the 1st

Once you get to around the 20th pick and after, these are playoff teams looking for a guy who can make an immediate impact, but might not have a huge upside. I think that with a talent like Josh available to playoff teams at the end of the 1st round, there is no way that he falls out of the 1st round

Final 4 or bust

It's possible but...

I would probably have Heytvelt in the first 15 picks of the 2nd Round. Talent wise I would put him in the lottery, but he plays smaller than his size, not much of a post-game, not a great rebounder, not very physical. Of course I welcome you to laugh in my face in the event he does get picked in the first round, if there’s anyone who deserves it it’s Josh, I hope you’re right..

It should be an interesting draft day for Gonzaga

I think draft day should be incredibly interesting for the three Gonzaga guys. I know many people are down on Pargo right now, but he is the type of guy who will thrive at team workouts, and I think he will be drafted in the early 2nd round. I really think that Micah has the skill set and ability to work his way in to the late 1st round, mostly because he is a low risk and high reward pick. If Micah plays with the defensive intensity he is displaying at Portsmouth at all his workouts, he will work his way into the 1st round. I just have this image of Micah having a Bruce Bowen type career in the league, and I could really see a team like Cleveland or San Antonio taking him in the 1st round.
