Former Gonzaga forward Austin Daye turned in his best performance of the season earlier tonight in a losing effort for the Pistons. Daye finished with 11 points in 18 minutes. Also pulled in five rebounds for Detroit and had this nice block on J.J. Redick.

It’s good to see Daye getting better every game.

Exactly

People seem to enjoy dogging Austin Daye on a daily basis but Coach Few said that we wouldn’t see Austin’s best basketball days when he was at Gonzaga. People seemed to infer that to mean “Austin will score 30 a game and carry this team to a title”. Sometimes the Rivals and Scout “five-star” ranking can curse kids, especially when they come to a school like Gonzaga that isn’t used to getting top 30 players year in, year out. I expect Austin to get better and better as a player with Detroit and if they bring him along and develop him slowly, I think he can be a star in this league.
