After speaking with Gonzaga coach Mark Few on Thursday, I can sum up his response in three words: Not bloody likely.

"The chances of that happening are about the same as Big Foot having my baby," Few said. "That's like me saying, Gonzaga proposes a five-year deal at Spokane Arena. There, I just made a proposal. That's as logical as this deal [would be]."

"The series should start in Spokane because Washington canceled the series," Few said. "If they want to do a home-and-home, that's fine. If they don't, let's all move on. We have some incredible home-and-home deals right now with Wake [Forest], Michigan State and Xavier. We're doing a deal with Oklahoma. We have plenty of games, so it's not that important for us to play Washington."

-Mark Few responds to Washington's "proposal"

Good to see Coach Few take the gloves off a little bit here. He obviously found Lorenzo Romar's idea of an equitable proposal about as ridiculous as the Gonzaga fanbase did.

Should get more run that just Washinton

Too funny! : P

If this gets out on ESPN Romar will be a national laughing stock. Probably just set back GU-UW relations another three years. : (

But . . . it was worth it. I won’t forget this one for a long time.

Mark Few is a stud. It’s so true.

I also love how UW tries to act like we are the ones with the ego’s for not coming to Key Arena when it’s really UW who won’t go to Spokane.

I know

I was kind of joking when I wrote earlier that Mark Few should crumple the proposal up and throw it into the trash but that appears to be exactly what he did. The fact remains that Washington is a mid-level Pac-10 athletic program and Gonzaga is now getting bigger and better programs to come to the Kennel each year. Four or five years ago, this proposal may have been taken a tad more seriously but now that we get outstanding nonconference basketball here in Spokane, we don’t need UW…and I honestly think that it bothers them.

Every argument I’ve heard from them revolves around the West Coast Conference. Needless to say I think every Gonzaga fan will be wearing Pilot Purple on December 19th when Washington plays Portland.

Marcus

This increases my respect level for Mark Few greatly. That last sentence was a home run.
