Just wanted to give everyone a quick season update on how 2009 commit Sam Dower has been playing this season.  Obviously, Sam has been having an excellent senior season for his Osseo High School team in Minnesota.  Dower is a 6'9'' power forward who is currently a three-star prospect as ranked by scout and rivals.  With the type of season he is having, it is clear that he has a very high ceiling.  Here is a quick review of Dower's play at the 2009 Timberwolves Shootout:

Osseo cranked up the 2nd half defense and Dower dominated inside in the 2nd half. 73-43 Osseo in another rout. Dower with 18. He hit jump hook after jump hook inside with no Roosevelt answer.

Dower

Gonzaga was lucky to get Dower to recruit before his senior year. Last year his high school team was stacked and had 2 legitimate scorers on the squad. Now that they have graduated, Dower is truly the man at Osseo and is proving it by pouring in 25+ nightly. Now if he can only get another big man who plays with his back to the basket. Dower might be tall, but he is still lanky and likes to shoot the three ball.

did you say jump hook???

would love to see a zag in the middle bring back the jump hook, just like the good ol’ days with gourde! until this year, we’ve always had a guy who could hit that nice little one hander that’s virtually un-blockable (sweet new word)

#1 CA zag fan... don't even argue

Dower is going to be very good and good immediately.

If Poling can get his health right and progress as a low post threat, Gonzaga might become centered around the paint. Dower, Poling, and Sacre (if all are healthy) could form a front line that no one wants to face. Sacre will be a redshirt sophomore next year more than likely and Poling and Dower will both have four years at their disposal.

Watch out.
